PERRY PLAYLAND

For Katy Perry's 2022 Las Vegas residency and concert show, PLAY, Hi from the Future developed a 15min animated film, Perry Playland, from script to stage.

Set in a toy-sized Katy Perry universe full of Perry’s music, fashion, and iconography, the film expresses her musical mythology her fans know and love.
 

STORY

In close collaboration with the show directors (The Squared Division) and musical director (Kris Pooley), we developed the story through script and storyboards over a 5 act structure.

We scoured the Katy Perry archives (music videos, concert performances, tattoos, memes, and fashion style) which served as a deep well of reference points and inspiration.

DESIGN

We assembled a stellar team of art directors, illustrators, and storyboard artists, who developed the look and feel of Perry Playland world, which informed the final 3D characters, props, and environments.

Meet Katy Doll! 🧏🏻‍♀️ Katy Perry's digital toy double 🍄 who journeys to find the magical toy utopia, Perry Playland.  Over 5 animated Acts, Katy Dolls changes digital wardrobe, mimicking Perry's real-life costumes on stage.
